Fun on the Farm

Old MacDonald’s Farm located in Bever Park is open daily May to October. The young animals typically found at the farm include chickens, cows, pigs, ducks, goats, lambs, rabbits and more. This is a wonderful place to explore and get up close to all of the animals.

From April through October, Bass Farms, a vegetable farm and specialty food store comes alive, especially during the pumpkin Fall Festival the last two weekends of September and every weekend in October.

If you are visiting in September/October don’t miss the corn maze, pumpkin patch, petting zoo and plentiful family-friendly activities at Bloomsbury Farm

Snack Time

Before heading to your next adventure, make a visit to Almost Famous Popcorn in the NewBo neighborhood to grab some snacks. They offer an amazing array of gourmet popcorn flavors, fresh scooped ice cream, fudge and vintage sodas the kids will love. Sample away.

Game Day

If going to a game was a pastime that has left you with fond memories, now is the time to recreate them! Not only do the Cedar Rapids Kernels play games all summer, but there’s plenty to keep the family entertained, from face painting to slushies, and a chance to run the bases on Sundays.  If your family likes to get loud, then head to a Cedar Rapids RoughRiders game at ImOn Ice, October to April. If football is your game, the Cedar Rapids River Kings play February to June. Find upcoming sporting events here.

A Classic Arcade

Classic arcade games are fun for all at Quarter Barrel Arcade! Grab a pizza and local craft beer for mom and dad.

Many area theaters and entertainment venues have family-friendly shows and events throughout the year such as Brucemore’s Outdoor Children’s Theatre. Check the events calendar for listings at the Paramount Theatre, Theatre Cedar Rapids, Old Creamery Theatre, U.S. Cellular Center and more.
