Load up the littles and head to Cedar Rapids for a quick vacation getaway. It's a great place to make first vacation memories.
1. Play
Adventurous kids will love The Fun Station where they can explore ball pits and inflatable obstacle courses, play games in the arcade, and find their way through a laser maze. The play center is designed for ages 12 and under and Tot Tuesdays (for ages 1-4) are offered weekly, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Family Fun Nights are Thursdays with discounted admission and pizza packages available.
2. Bounce
Continue the adventure at Cedar Rapids' largest trampoline park. The 40,000-square-feet of family fun at AirFX Trampoline Park includes a Kid's Zone for small children.
3. Learn
When you're ready for fresh air, stop at the Wickiup Hill Learning Center where toddlers delight in events like Toddlers and Toadstools and Science for Squirts. In addition to events, the exhibits are designed especially for kids - they'll be encouraged to "follow a magical dragonfly" on a learning adventure.
4. Pet
For more hands-on activities, check out Old MacDonald’s Farm in Bever Park, home to goats, ducks, chickens, lambs, piglets and rabbits. Open late April-mid October.
5. Splash
During summer months, Cedar Rapids turns in to the Splash Park Capital of Iowa - with many city parks having splash pads and water features where kids can cool off. Plus more in nearby Marion.
6. Snack
Finish a busy day with a sweet treat. Almost Famous Popcorn is a crowd-pleaser for both kids and parents. While popcorn is popped fresh daily, don’t let the scent fool you — popcorn isn't all that’s offered. Enjoy 24+ flavors of hand-dipped ice cream and premium fudge, along with more than 100 flavors of vintage soda.
