Ring in the holiday season with Deck the District: a three-day celebration in Czech Village & New Bohemia full of holiday cheer! Join us for the annual tree lighting, visits from Santa Claus, the Old World Market, and live music performances December 2-4, 2022. With local retail promotions for the whole weekend, there will be something for everyone to enjoy!
The District: Czech Village & New Bohemia is ringing in the holidays with another joy-filled weekend of Deck the District, December 2-4, 2022.
Here is the lineup of activities for the weekend:
Friday, December 2
The District Holiday Open House - 4-6 PM
The District: Czech Village & New Bohemia is welcoming visitors to their new office space at 208 12th Avenue SE, Suite G for a holiday celebration. Join The District Team for hot cocoa and cookies and learn more about ways to support their efforts to keep the neighborhoods unique, vibrant, and thriving.
Svaty Mikulas Celebration & Tree Lighting - 5-7 PM
The Czech Village Association welcomes the community to join them at Hospoda (62 16th Avenue SW) for their annual Svaty Mikulas celebration. See the Czech Santa Claus hand out gold coins to the good little kids and potatoes to the bad. The cultural festivities include a visit from the Traditional Angel & Devil and continues with a presentation about Christmas in Czech Republic.
At 6:30 PM, the Christmas Tree in front of the Kosek Bandstand will be lit for the season, followed by Christmas carols.
"My Kind of Christmas" Holiday Performance - 7 PM
Czech Singer Martina Barta will be performing a holiday concert at the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library (1400 Inspiration Place SW).
Saturday, December 3
Very Cherry Holiday - 10 AM-4 PM
The Cherry Building (329 10th Avenue SE) will be hosting its annual Very Cherry Holiday celebration with live music from the 5 Seasons Ensemble, FREE activities on the first floor Cherry Center Space, special exhibitions by local artists, and a festive photo-op with Santa Claus.
Old World Christmas Market - 10 AM-4 PM
Sunday, December 4
Old World Christmas Market - 10 AM-4 PM
Santa at the Market - 1-4 PM
The NewBo City Market (1100 3rd Street SE) will be hosting Santa Claus for photos every Sunday for the month of December.
Irish Christmas in America - 7 PM
This family-friendly show coming to CSPS Hall (1103 3rd St SE) brings top Irish music, song and dance in an engaging performance, "rich in humor and boundless energy." Enjoy an evening filled with the enchanting spirit of Christmas as the finest traditional artists from Ireland bring you on a fun-filled start to the holiday season.
