Since opening their doors in the historic Czech Village neighborhood in March of 2014, Lion Bridge Brewing Company has become a Cedar Rapids staple and continues to grow and flourish as one of the area’s leading breweries with award-winning beers and high-quality, locally-sourced food.
Flagship Beers
On the menu you’ll find Lion Bridge’s five flagship beers including Great American Beer Festival two-time Gold Medal winner Compensation, the Kundera Kölsch, Yard Sale IPA, Disaster at Meux porter and crowd pleasing Bridge Beer. All of whichremain on tap year round. If you like smooth and creamy, be sure to check out their nitro tap featuring a rotation of favorite flavors infused with nitrogen.
While you can’t go wrong with any of the five flagships, brewers are also encouraged to experiment with new, different and creative ingredients that result in delicious and complex, yet approachable beers focused on community and local collaboration. Take for example the fan favorite Honey Kölsch, which features honey from Indian Creek Nature Center, as well as beers aged in Cedar Ridge whiskey barrels or those getting flavor from unique ingredients like Quaker Oat’s Crunchberries.
Cuisine That Changes With The Seasons
For food, look no further than the always-changing seasonal menu. More than likely there’s something for you. You can’t go wrong with favorites like the Bridge Burger made with house-made pickles and tomato jam, Korean BBQ Pork Tacos braised in mildale topped with house apple ginger coleslaw or the famed Compensation Braised Pork Nachos on locally made La Reyna corn chips.
Scenic Views Of And From The Brewery
Their bright and modern taproom is sure to be a crowd pleaser, but will especially delight history buffs with its location in Czech Village, just a short walk from the Bridge of Lions in a renovated grocery store listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Visitors are welcome to peek through the windows to the brewery where they can see where all the action happens, then grab a seat at the bar, near a floor to ceiling window looking out at Czech Village’s main street or, on a beautiful day, out at a picnic table on the newly renovated patio — complete with a bocce ball court and string lights for perfect summer evening ambiance.
Want Lion Bridge beers outside of the brewery? Take a growler home, or look for their beers on tap at bars and restaurants throughout the state.
