As fall ushers in stunning colors, it also brings more great family adventures. Both Pinicon Ridge State Park and Palisades Kepler State Park offer excellent views of the changing leaves and afternoons enjoying the cool air. Take the family apple picking at Allen’s Orchard in Marion. (Pro tip: You’ve got to try the cherry chip donuts.) And of course, stop by Bass Farms and Barts Farm to pick just the right pumpkins, catch some great photos and discover fun fall activities for kiddos. Bloomsbury Farm is another huge hit each fall, with a whole host of activities including two ten-acre corn mazes, pumpkin blasters, gemstone mining, barrel rides, a super slide, wine tasting and a beer garden for mom and dad.
For a more peaceful adventure, Prairiewoods Franciscan Spirituality Center in Hiawatha is a great choice for a stunning and serene walk through the woods or around the prairie. And don’t miss Dows Observatory where they host public programs that allow you to use their high-powered telescopes to explore the night sky. You may even see the rings around Saturn!
