Cultural Corridor
What's your favorite museum?
“My favorite part about the African American Museum of Iowa outside of being a Board Member, would be our exhibits. AAMI has rotating exhibits that educate more than 30,000 people a year, with our traveling exhibits, programs, virtual presentations and online collection that help expand the mission of teaching the African American heritage of Iowa. I learn something new about my culture every time I walk through the doors of AAMI, and I appreciate the education I can teach my kids.” - Anthony B. Jr.
Foodies Delight
What's your favorite dining spot?
”I love both Cobble Hill and Caucho, they are sister restaurants but have totally different vibes. One more laid back and the other more upscale! Caucho is wonderful for friends and a fun cocktail. Cobble Hill sources their food locally, changes their menu regularly and is great for an intimate date night. You can’t go wrong with either choice!” - Lisa B.
What's your favorite LGBTQ-friendly spot in Cedar Rapids?
“My go to is Chophouse Downtown! I love their club sandwich. When we have our Drag Brunch, you can’t go wrong with the breakfast bowl!” - Corey J., CRPride President

“The Roughriders have the loudest fans, the greatest atmosphere and the best cowbells around!” - Amanda O. “I never used to come until my kids told me about it, and now I just love it! It’s a wonderful family event. I think the best part is when they pan the audience and have all the fun things they do during the breaks, it’s entertaining to see what other people do.” - Jim O
“Hawkeye Downs is a historic venue in Cedar Rapids and has been around nearly 100 years with racing every Friday night in the summer. I love going out on Friday nights to race and enjoy the time with friends and family.” - Danny L.
