Cedar Rapids Ranked 4th Best St. Patrick's Day City In U.S.

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day in a city that knows how to do it right!

Cedar Rapids is the fourth-best city in the United States for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, according to the Web site WalletHub. The site used four criteria to rank celebrations — St. Patrick’s Day traditions, costs, safety and accessibility, and St. Patrick’s Day weather. Learn more about the ranking here.

Saint Patrick's Day Parade

The traditions are strong in Cedar Rapids, especially with the annual Saint Patrick’s Day Parade sponsored by SaPaDaPaSo!

SaPaDaPaSo’s unique name came about when a group of Cedar Rapids citizens came together one evening in 1978 at Ted Mahoney’s on 3rd Ave west and planned our city’s first Saint Patrick’s Day Parade.

They called themselves the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade Society and have sponsored every parade since 1978 on March 17th, rain or shine… 2019 is no exception!

This year’s parade starts at 1:00 p.m., March 17th.

Parking

Parking is available at Parking Ramps located at:  4th Ave, 5 Seasons, Convention. On street metered parking is also available downtown.  If you don’t mind a 10 minute walk, you can always park down in the NewBo area and get a little exercise on your way to the parade.
