Cedar Rapids Hosts USA Wrestling Kids Freestyle and Greco-Roman National Championships
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – USA Wrestling, the national governing body for wrestling in the United States, is hosting the Kids Freestyle and Greco-Roman National Championships at the Alliant Energy PowerHouse in Cedar Rapids, June 27-29, 2025.
Nearly 1500 total registrations are expected between the Freestyle and Greco-Roman mediums for this three-day competition, with athletes traveling from over 40 states. The USA Wrestling Kids Freestyle and Greco-Roman National Championships features the nation’s top boys in the 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U age-groups, competing in the Olympic styles. It is the final leg of the prestigious USA Wrestling Triple Crown in all four age-levels.
“USA Wrestling is excited to bring one of its top youth national wrestling championships back to Cedar Rapids this weekend,” said Pete Isais, USA Wrestling National Events Director. “Cedar Rapids has proven that it can successfully host major wrestling competitions, with strong community involvement and support. The Alliant Energy Powerhouse will provide a very positive experience for the athletes while competing at the Kids Freestyle and Greco-Roman Nationals.”

Cedar Rapids has a track record of hosting major national sports competitions. It served as host for the 2022 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships, the 2023 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships, as well as the 2023 and 2024 National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Championships – the national tournament for NCAA women’s wrestling programs before it was sanctioned this year. Cedar Rapids is also set to host the men’s 2026 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships and 2027 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships.
Cedar Rapids is the 11th city to host this competition, which has been held in Iowa, California, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Utah and Georgia since it was created in 1997. In 2024 it was hosted at ImOn Ice in Cedar Rapids. The event will return to the Alliant Energy PowerHouse in 2026.
