USA Boccia National Championship Coming to Cedar Rapids

Boccia is a competitive Paralympic sport derived from Bocce.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – The Cedar Rapids Tourism Office is excited to welcome the USA Boccia National Championships to Cedar Rapids August 4-7th, 2022. Athletes will compete at the Alliant Energy PowerHouse through 1 day of clinics and 3 days of competition.

 “We are looking forward to hosting the 2022 USA Boccia Nationals in Cedar Rapids. The Alliant Energy Powerhouse is a first-class facility that will provide a great experience for all competitors. We also invite everyone to a free Intro to Boccia Clinic on Thursday, August 4th at 12 p.m. Come on over to the Alliant Energy Powerhouse and learn to play!” says Eric Pfeifer, Executive Director of USA Boccia.

Boccia is a competitive Paralympic sport played by individuals, pairs and teams of 3. It was derived from Bocce and developed to provide athletes with physical disabilities the opportunity to compete at local, regional, national and international levels.

2022 National Championship Competition Schedule:

  • Friday. August 5th: Teams & Pairs Competition
  • Saturday, August 6th: Individual Competition
  • Sunday, August 7th: Individual Competition, Awards Ceremonies
