The Eastern Iowa Cosmic Conference is hosted by the Cedar Amateur Astronomers, May 16, 2026 at the DoubleTree Hotel and Convention Complex in downtown Cedar Rapids. The conference will include a Free Public presentation at 10:45 AM Saturday May 16, 2026 by Dr. Ryan French from the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) in Boulder, CO. Dr. French's area of expertise is solar phenomenon and he will be discussing Space Hazards. Dr. French is sponsored by the American Astronimical Society. This will be followed by Astronomy presentations, programs, a Portable Planetarium and other hands-on activities for families to explore Astronomy and the cosmos from 1-4 PM at the DoubleTree. The cost for the afternoon session is $25 for an individual or $40 for a family.
