4th Annual Bake-Off: French Pastry by Sandrine

Overview

Join us as Chef Sandrine Wallace invites local Iowa home-bakers the opportunity to exhibit their art and show their best creation! You can compete solo or as a team of two with the person of your choice. This is for non-professional bakers only.

Theme: Fall baking! The participants should highlight the flavors and fruits (cinnamon, apples, pears, etc.) of the season, and utilize their creativity to craft an original and unconventional dessert which would rival the traditional classic multi layer cake usually presented.

Bake onsite to present a stunning summer cake to the judges! Prizes will be awarded to the top three in each division! Nothing pre-made is allowed!

There are five (5) divisions for you to choose from! Make sure you select the correct event when you choose your tickets! Only one sesson per baker.

Cake Division (All judged together)

Cake Session 1: Friday, August 29th from 1:30pm-5:00pm

Cake Session 2: Saturday, August 30th from1:30pm-5:00pm

Cake Session 3: Sunday, August 31st from 10:00am-1:30pm

Pie Division (All judged together)

Pie Session 1: Friday, August 29th from 10:00am-12:30pm

Pie Session 2: Saturday, August 30th from 10:00am-12:30 pm

Judging and Awards: Sunday, August 31st at 2:00pm

ALL BAKERS: Please send an email to Sandrine Wallace at sandrineanne@hotmail.com, or call her 319-350-8962. She will assist in securing your baking ingredients and getting you registered.

Applications are received until sold-out, on the basis of first come first served!

Entry Fee: $50 for cake division, $30 for pie division

Prizes for the Cake Division :1st- $1002nd- $703rd- $50

Prizes for the Pie Division:1st- $702nd- $503rd- $30

Standard baking ingredients will be provided.

The competition will be open for spectators, who will be able to watch the bakers at work throughout the contest!

The closing ceremony of the competition will be a great event celebrating the winners, and it will be free and accessible to everyone! Slices of all the cakes/pies will be available for purchase, for a festive grand finale!
