Support Local

With the far-reaching effects of the coronavirus, now is the time to support small local businesses as much as possible. Here are some simple tips.

Restaurants & Breweries

Orders To Go: Many restaurants, even ones that don’t deliver, are now doing takeout, so your options are plentiful. Most are posting update on their Facebook pages about the menu items and services available. Find details at these resources: CR Tourism Instagram Stories, Cedar Rapids Facebook Small Businesses, Marion Small Businesses.

Delivery: Use services like Grubhub or FeedNow. While you’ll find plenty of fast food and chain options, opt for a local restaurant.

Online Gift Cards: Maybe the best gift of all, see if your favorite local restaurant offers online gift card purchases. This gives them cash now, while you enjoy dining out in the future.

Local Brews: Local breweries are offering new growler purchases on the go with curbside pickup.

Buy Local: Many local producers offer products at our local grocery stores, from milk to popcorn, from salsa to beer, wine and bourbon. Seek out the local products when you shop.

Online: Find the local retailers and shops online and make your purchases from the comfort of home.

Share the Love: Go follow local businesses on their social media accounts, write that positive online review you always meant to, share a great experience you had with a local business on your social media.

Future Tickets/Gift Cards: Make plans for summer/fall and purchase your tickets or a gift card for future use.

Donate: Give a donation to keep your favorite arts and cultural organization up and running.

Thank You!

A simple note of thanks to these business owners and organizations will go a long way.

We love the Cedar Rapids area, and we know you do too! We are a resilient community because we support each other in times of need.
