Linn County Main Streets

Find your experience in Linn County's unique Main Street Districts.

Whether it’s Central City, Cedar Rapids, Marion or Mount Vernon, there’s an exciting experience waiting for you in Linn County’s main streets.

Each district has something special to offer, from unique historic architecture to independent boutique businesses and events throughout the year.

Central City

Just miles north of the Cedar Rapids area, this rural Main Street community offers a getaway from city life. Surrounded by four county parks, it’s the perfect place for any outdoor adventure, whether that’s camping, boating, hunting, fishing, or even traveling along the city’s paved scenic nature trail. At the center of it all is a quiet historic downtown with several "mom-and-pop" shops inside beautiful 1890s buildings.

Cedar Rapids

For more of an urban setting, head to Cedar Rapids’ hip and happening Czech Village-New Bohemia Main Street district. Voted Best Cultural Attraction by the Corridor Business Journal last year and as a 2016 Great American Main Street Award semi-finalist, this historic district is home not only to incredible artists and world-class museums, but also some of the best dining, shopping and entertainment in the area.

Marion

Uptown Marion offers a unique blend of city and small town feel that makes for a perfect family-friendly destination. With more than sixty boutiques, restaurants, galleries and more, visitors have plenty to explore along its historic streets. Visitors won't want to miss the Uptown Artway behind 7th Avenue, where a once under-utilized alley has been transformed into a permanent art installation featuring local and national artists.

Mount Vernon and Lisbon

Head to Mount Vernon and Lisbon for an eclectic mix of vintage shopping, fine dining and funky art galleries. Catch a game or a show at Cornell College, one of only two campuses in the entire country where the entire campus is listed on the National Historic Register. Take in a festival or concert, or simply walk the district’s tree-lined streets to enjoy views of beautiful historic homes, blooming gardens and plentiful parks.
