Orchestra Iowa Masterworks II: Homecoming, featuring Iowa City native pianist Conor Hanick.

Iowa City-native Conor Hanick, whose “technical refinement, color, crispness and wondrous variety…benefit works by any master” (The New York Times), returns home to perform Brahms First Piano Concerto, a tour de force for both the pianist and orchestra. Dvoˇrák put the finishing touches on his Symphony No. 9, “From the New World,” while visiting Spillville, Iowa to feed his homesick Bohemian soul. The famous melodies and themes of the symphony serve as an enduring testament to Iowa’s influence on the musical master.
