Experience the healing powers of meditative yoga in the spiritual environment and natural beauty of Prairiewoods (120 East Boyson Road in Hiawatha). Join us as we link our movements with our breath and cultivate strength, flexibility and relaxation through regular yoga classes. Certified yoga instructors Cindy Hathaway, Carla Brems and Cheryl Lindo offer six classes at Prairiewoods each week, including Gentle/Beginner’s Yoga (Mondays and Thursdays from 9:30–10:30 a.m. and 5:30–6:30 p.m.) and Chair Yoga (Mondays and Thursdays from 10:45–11:45 a.m.). Please note there will be no yoga Dec. 23–30 in honor of Christmas. People of all fitness levels and abilities are encouraged to attend whenever available. Cindy Hathaway, who has practiced yoga for ten years and taught for five, is certified as a Transformational Yoga Instructor through Jackie Chiodo of the Anamaya Resort in Costa Rica. Carla Brems is a RYT 200 Yoga Alliance Certified Instructor. She enjoys teaching Hatha-style yoga in a relaxed atmosphere so that all feel welcome and safe to appreciate and enjoy the physical, mental and spiritual benefits that yoga can bring. Recently retired from Cedar Rapids schools, Cheryl Lindo became a certified yoga teacher through a month-long training in India. In addition to yoga she enjoys reading, biking and wandering on nature trails. Let’s see how Cindy, Carla and Cheryl can help us benefit from yoga! Please bring your own mat if possible.
