Harmony School of Music is delighted to announce the return of its fourth annual Community Music Day, scheduled to take place at the Cedar Rapids Library downtown on Saturday, March 2, from 10am until 3:30pm. The highlight of the day will be a community play- and sing-along led by Orchestra Iowa’s esteemed maestro Tim Hankewich. Musicians of all levels are invited to join in, either in person or virtually. Throughout the day, a diverse array of activities, performances, and events will showcase local artists and provide an inclusive space for all attendees to play, sing, and listen together.

The entire day is free and open to the public, thanks to the generous support of key sponsors, including the Iowa Economic Development Authority, the National Endowment for the Arts, Coe College, Orchestra Iowa, the University of Iowa music therapy faculty and students, the Cedar Rapids Library, and corporate partners. While Harmony School of Music takes the lead in organizing the event, numerous local artists and organizations are contributing with free activities and performances suitable for all ages. Participating entities include Orchestra Iowa School, Mt. Mercy University, Cedar Rapids Community Orchestra, Eastern Iowa Arts Academy, Never Dream Less, and Wellington Heights Community Church. The afternoon will culminate in a play- and sing-along performance open to all, craft activities, infant/child music classes, story time, and a diverse range of performances such as orchestra, rock, and hip hop.
