Prepare for your first or next backpacking trip! Join Nichole Clark from Wild Rose Outdoor Recreation Consulting for this hands-on class. There is no better time to enjoy the solitude and fresh air of the great outdoors than now, so participants will learn about selecting a backpacking location, gear and clothing (what to pack, how to pack, and boot selection), food options, cooking, and wildlife. Physical conditioning for the trip and Leave No Trace principles will also be discussed. Nichole is a National Outdoor Leadership School Alaska Women’s Backpacking graduate, Leave No Trace Master Educator, and American Red Cross First Aid/CPR Instructor. She’ll also share her experiences from solo backpacking trips in the Colorado Rockies, kayak camping in Voyageurs National Park, and hammock camping in the Northern Rockies. This class will be held outdoors on the Amazing Space patio. If the weather is poor the class will move indoors to Amazing Space. Face masks and social distancing are expected. Class size is limited and no walk-ins will be admitted. Cost: M $10; NM $15
